Bomber command memorial
To the scum that threw paint over such a beautiful memorial of such brave airmen.
I hope you die a truly horrible death and I'd willingly torture you just for the fun of it.

That Kehinde Andrews is a racist.

Hates whitey.

He's an irrelevant academic prat who would last two minutes in the real world outside of his chosen non subject academia.

Just looked this Kehinde Andrews up.

Someone’s been playing silly buggers with his wiki.

“Dr Kehinde Andrews is a British Academic of Afro-Caribbean[citation needed] heritage. He is a Professor of Black Studies at Birmingham City University, the director of the Centre for Critical Social Research, founder of the Organisation of Black Unity Mitford, and co-chair of the Black Studies Association.[1] He is "the UK’s first professor of black studies."[2]”

The snowflake on Good Morning was a bloke called Kehinde Andrews. Not sure what annoyed me more, the desecration of the memorial or this bloke!!

..."His plane was the 100th aircraft lost in one night.
Which I find hard to get my head round."

Next time you fly from Heathrow - take a look at the whole airside area - then imagine it with, suddenly, absolutely no aircraft of any kind at all. That's about 100 aircraft missing, there and then.

Poor quality will almost certainly be down to the government/camera operator going for the most two-bob box-ticking* solution they could lay their hands on.

Industry standard surveillance cameras can pick out a number plate at about 300 yards and a face from a picture that only has 11 pixels between the eyes. I suspect they decided that the memorial was not worth the $3,000 per pop price tag.

Re: Bomber command memorial
They have just released CCTV footage of the person that did the vandalism and the quality is shocking!
I can’t believe they there is no better footage available?
I didn’t realise he vandalised 4 other memorials that night including Yvonne Fletchers.

.dont ever pity any bod that served..they volunteered and either died or injured on opps..it was their choice...and every single one would concur.

you enlist..you know the score..simple as that...

when it comes down to it...morals and all the rest mean jack shit.

don't call it on if not prepared to face the reality and the consequences.
sounds harsh and cold right?
different worlds altogether...and rightly so

Interesting to know.

Uncle Teddy was shot down over Dusseldorf the year before, I don't actually know if he would have moved as well.

When we were back in Canada last year, helping my mother downsize, I found a letter from him to a friend, i had never seen before.

He was just being a lad, talking about the English girls, it would considered sexist today but it just made him a lot more real.

Anne of Cleves was from close to Reichswald Forest War Cemetery.

Not a lot of people know that :-)

Re: Bomber command memorial
By an amazing coincidence I too have a relative buried in Riechswald cemetery. He was shot down in 1943 and buried in Holland, near the German border. In 1945 his remains along with those of other allied fliers were removed to the large cemetery near Kleve.

My great uncle was a rear gunner in a Lancaster and now lies in Reichswald Forest War Cemetery.

My dad was never very emotional, but talking about this guy, (he was his hero and left when my dad was 7) was the exception.

Orwell,

I have a place close by to Oradour. I have been there a couple of times and it is a most chilling place to visit and a reminder above all of man's inhumanity.
